Easy

If you are not always in a hurry, tend to enjoy a more leisurely pace no matter what you do, but still want to take in the great sights of St. Petersburg in a more relaxed and “civilized” manner, then this tour may just suit you perfectly ;-)

During this tour you will still visit the most famous sites of St. Petersburg that are steeped in history and culture, except that you will not rush through them trying to cover every room and inch of space. Rather, you will have time for a leisurely lunch between sightseeing stops and time even for pleasant conversation with your guide and fellow travellers!

You will visit the two most famous summer residences of the Russian Tsars:

First, you will travel to the amazing "Russian Versailles" - Peterhof -  the spectacular park on the banks of the Gulf of Finland, replete with fountains, flower gardens, palaces and sculptures. It is a fascinating and grand place to see and relax in!

Next, you will travel to another famous summer residence of Russian royalty - Tsarskoye Selo - Tsar's Village. The crown jewel of this residence is the fantastic Catherine Palace, believed by some to house the eighth wonder of the world - the world famous Amber room bedecked with jewels of golden Russian amber. Catherine Palace is an unforgettable experience!

After the Tsar’s Village, you will visit one of the largest and greatest of the world’s museums – the State Hermitage. This museum houses an amazing collection of historical European artifacts, and is a veritable treasure trove of the Tsars. Arguably, it also holds the greatest collection of European Art in the world from Rembrandt to Picasso. And you will have the opportunity to see all of its highlights! Our guide will show you all of the Hermitage “gems!”

Finally, on this tour, you will also see one of the greatest architectural treasures not only of St. Petersburg, but of the whole world – the magnificent Cathedral of Our Savior On Spilled Blood. This breathtaking old Russian style church with its multi colored enamel onion domes and fabulous inlaid mosaic interior will set your heart a flutter! A Truly Russian masterpiece!

During this leisurely tour paced over two days, you will see all this beauty and more, but with no rush and no wasted time! Of course, during our coach travel between each of the four main destinations on the tour, you will also experience several modern districts of the city which we will point out and explain. You will also see some old areas in the country side with our famous datchas! We will also throw in a delightful hydrofoil ride for you, which will allow you to experience some modern residential areas of St. Petersburg from the water!

Top Tour

Our Most Popular 2 DAY “top” TOUR!

This tour strikes a popular balance between a leisurely pace that is not too hectic, and visiting all those attractions that should not be missed in St. Petersburg!

The tour is set at a moderate pace, which means you will have some time to spend in the museums taking in their highlights, and plenty of time to time to enjoy all of the other attractions that are not within museums.

Among the major attractions we will cover is one of Russia's treasures -  the spectacular, bright enamel, onion-domed Cathedral of Our Savior On Spilled Blood -  an ornate old Russian style church, covered in inlaid mosaic.

We will also cover the State Hermitage museum with its enormous collection of Russian and European Art. We will show you the Hermitage’s highlights in a relatively short time, including  the gorgeous state rooms of the Russian royalty, and the most famous paintings in the museum.

We will not miss the Tsar’s summer residence in Tsarskoye Selo (Tsar's Village), including the wondrous Catherine palace laden with gold, and the “eighth wonder of the world” -  the legendary Amber Room.

You will also visit the tomb of the Russian Tsars – the last resting place of the Romanovs, including Tsar Nicholas II and his family. You will see Peter and Paul's Cathedral in the territory of Peter and Paul's Fortress, where the history of St. Petersburg begins!

You will walk in one of the great parks of Russia, and indeed the world, among hand crafted fountains, statuary, and gorgeous trees, on the banks of the Gulf of Finland.  It is a place of great serenity and opulence - the best of all we have in St. Petersburg – Peterhof – built by Peter the Great to rival the magnificence of Versailles!

And, you will enjoy the speed boat ride that will transport you to or from Peterhof  at high speed, while you marvel at the Gulf of Finland itself and the modern residential areas of St. Petersburg.

Finally, during this tour, your guide will take you to some of St. Petersburg’s subway stations that are incredibly impressive, strange as that may sound!  Yes, St. Petersburg subway stations resemble the state  rooms of a royal palace, opulent with marble, chandeliers and sculptures – bequeathed to the proletariat by the Soviet leadership! Our “Metro” is unique, and we want to make sure you experience this modern attraction – our living link with our Soviet past - that lies beneath our great city!

WE ARE CONFIDENT YOU WILL ENJOY THIS TOUR. Its great advantage is that it will let you experience the highlights of St. Petersburg without rushing, giving you enough time to admire and enjoy them all.

Energetic

Are you part of a group that will only be happy if you squeezed in everything you could possibly experience in 2 days?! If you are, then this tour is tailored just for you! In addition to visiting the most distinguished and famous sites of St. Petersburg, “The Energetic” tour will also visit other places of interest that most traditional 1-2 day tours do not cover. Essentially, with “The Maximum” you will see all the highlights of St. Petersburg, and much more!

So what is included? First, you will take an extended sightseeing city tour by luxury coach, visiting the three most famous Russian Orthodox cathedrals in St. Petersburg: the classically  Russian, immensely colorful, onion domed Cathedral of Our Savior on Spilled Blood; Peter and Paul's Cathedral within Peter and Paul’s Fortress – often referred to as the birthplace of St. Petersburg; and the fourth tallest domed cathedral In the world – the incomparable St. Isaac's.

Secondly, you will take a serene walk along the Gulf of Finland in the spectacular Peterhof Fountain Park built by the visionary founder of our city, Peter the Great. Then, we will visit  Catherine Palace, a preferred residence of Tsaritsa Catherine the Great, where you will be astounded by the abundance of gold in every room, and astonished by the wonders of the Amber room, bedecked with authentic Russian amber from floor to ceiling!

Thirdly, you will enjoy a speedy ride on a hydrofoil speed boat, during which you will see not only the city centre, but also some of St. Petersburg’s most modern residential areas.

Fourthly, you will take a metro (subway) ride that will reveal the unexpected. You will be amazed by the St. Petersburg Metro – it is like no other subway in the world because the stations were built by the Communists as a monument to the people -  spectacular, splendid and over the top ornate! You will never see such ostentatious metro stations anywhere else!

Fifth, you will visit several museums, including of course, one of the greatest and most prestigious museums in the world – “the treasure of St. Petersburg”- the State Hermitage! When you travel with K Joy, we will make sure that you see all of the highlights of the Hermitage, even though it is massive, intimidating, and certainly Russia's largest museum! We guarantee it!

Finally, we will take you to the most controversial museum in St. Petersburg - Yusupov Palace!

Initially built for Russia’s richest aristocratic dynasty - the Yusupovs, the palace is most notorious as the site of Gregory Rasputin’s murder!!! We will make sure that you, our valued guests, become totally immersed in the intricate mystery that surrounds the assassination of Rasputin - the “spiritual mentor” and friend of the last Tsar of Imperial Russia - Nicolas II, and his beloved wife Alexandra. You will hear first hand how the plot was hatched to kill Rasputin - by the last owner of the palace - Prince Felix Yusupov, and the bizarre manner in which it was carried out! Indeed, the assassination of “the mad monk of Russia” is still as shocking and hair raising an event today, as it was when it shocked the country a hundred years ago!  You will not be disappointed – that is our guarantee!

Yes – “The Energetic” is intense, and some of you will be tired by the end of the tour. But, we know you'll be happy and satisfied – one and all! You will experience the maximum of St. Petersburg that you could possibly cover in 2 days; and you will be exposed to a lot of Russian  history, mystery, and folklore! We do caution that “The Energetic” is not for everyone, because it is intense and we cover a lot, but for those of you who are energetic, brave and curious, there really is no better tour in St. Petersburg that immerses you in Mother Russia so deeply in two days, as this tour! If you are willing and able, please Contact K-Joy for more information. We will do the rest!
