Easy

If you are not in a hurry, enjoy the finer things in life, but tend to prefer a more relaxed and “civilized” pace, then this tour may be the right fit for you to experience the great sights of St. Petersburg.

This tour is set at a more leisurely pace, which means you will still experience all the major attractions of St. Petersburg, but without rushing! What this means is, while you can be assured that you will not miss anything that you should not miss in our fabulous city, you will still have time for a leisurely lunch each day between sightseeing stops, and time even for pleasant conversation with your guide and fellow travellers!

One of the first stops you will make on the first day of this tour is the largest museum in Russia and one of the largest and most prestigious in the world - the State Hermitage. The museum houses an amazing collection of art from Leonardo da Vinci to Picasso. It is also the treasure trove of the Tsars and an incomparable journey into Russian history, culture and art. And, even though the museum is enormous and can be intimidating without guidance, with K Joy Travel’s highly knowledgeable guide by your side, we guarantee you will see all of the Hermitage’s highlights, including the gorgeous state rooms of Russian royalty!

We will then take a classic sightseeing city tour by luxury coach, in the course of which we will travel to Peter and Paul’s Fortress, where the history of St. Petersburg begins! We will visit Peter and Paul’s Cathedral -  the last resting place of the Romanovs, including Tsar Nicholas II and his family, brutally slaughtered in Siberia at the end of the Communist revolution at the turn of the last Century.

Another church we will visit on the first day, is the ornate gem of St. Petersburg -  the breathtaking and lavish Russian Orthodox Cathedral of Our Savior on Spilled Blood, covered in inlaid mosaic and decorated with multi colored enamel onion domes. We  assure  you  that  you  will  remember  this cathedral forever!

On the next two days of this 3 day tour we will focus on the magnificent summer palaces of the Russian Tsars. There are many such grand residences around St. Petersburg, but the two most spectacular among them are Peterhof and Catherine Palace. You will visit them both!

Catherine Palace lies in Tsarskoye Selo (Tsar's Village). You will visit the greatest attractions of this beautiful and serene place, culminating in fantastic Catherine Palace. We will walk with you through the many magnificent gala rooms of this ornate palace, pointing out and discussing all the important art, and the unending decorations of gold! And yes, we will obtain special permits for you to see the main jewel of the palace – the world-famous Amber Room, sometimes referred to as “the eighth wonder of the world!”

We will also spend time at the “Russian Versailles,” admiring Peter the Great’s precious gift to the Russian people - Peterhof.  The grandeur of the Emperor’s favorite residence is simply breath taking. Situated on the banks of the Gulf of Finland,  Peterhof,  with its spectacular marine landscapes, its fantastic palace, and manicured lawns, trees, flowers and fountains, is an experience like no other. It is not to be missed!

On this tour, your guide will also take you to the local farmer’s market and to some of St. Petersburg’s metro (subway) stations, which may sound strange, but we promise you - you will not regret this opportunity! You will be amazed because, first, St. Petersburg’s subways are the deepest in the world; and  second, you will never see such spectacular metro stations anywhere else! They are beautiful if ostentatious in the Stalinist style, opulent with marble sculptures and bronze and glass chandeliers.

During this 3 day tour you will not be rushing, but you will not be wasting time either! Not only will you see and experience all the most important and brilliant sights of St. Petersburg, but you will also learn Russian history and get a feel for the local people of the city and their daily lives. This custom tour will show you the old historical precincts of the city, its modern residential districts, and the country houses of the citizenry -  Russia’s famous datchas. Indeed, by the end of this tour you will have an excellent idea of city life now, and what it was like during both the Romanov era and in the time of the Soviets!.

Enjoy your precious time with K JOY Travel! Contact us soon to arrange this “easy tour” over three unforgettable days in St. Petersburg!

Top tour

Our Most Popular 3 day “top” tour!

This tour is not as relaxed as our “easy” tour ( paced very leisurely); nor is it as active and “strenuous” as  our “maximum” tour (designed for the slightly crazy ☺). Rather, the “top” tour is designed to strike a happy medium, creating a popular balance between a leisurely pace that is not too hectic, and visiting all those attractions that should not be missed in St. Petersburg!

Make no mistake, however; this tour will take you to all the major attractions in the city, but it will give you enough time to enjoy them at a reasonable pace.

On the first day, we will visit one of the greatest architectural gems of the city - the amazing and ornate, Russian style, Cathedral of Our Savior On Spilled Blood - with its marvelous inlaid mosaics and bright enamel onion domes. You will also be impressed by stunning St. Isaac’s Cathedral - the fourth tallest domed church in the world, decorated with gigantic one-piece granite columns weighing over 100 tons each!

Then, we will travel to Peter and Paul’s Fortress and visit Peter and Paul’s Cathedral in its territory. Both, the cathedral and the fortress are historically significant  because the fortress is the “birthplace” of St. Petersburg and a former Russian political prison, while the cathedral is the last resting place of the Romanovs. This place is truly steeped in history and it will not fail to move you.

After driving around the city visiting these fantastic places, we will take you on a relaxing boat ride through the many canals of St. Petersburg. You may be surprised by how much water there is in our city and how different St. Petersburg looks from the water. Indeed, you will begin to understand  why our fair city has sometimes been called “the Venice of the North!»

On the second day of your tour we will visit several palaces. Among them, the most notorious palace in St. Petersburg, with a scandalous reputation – Yusupov Palace - built for Russia’s richest aristocratic dynasty - the Yusupovs.

This remarkable museum is known as the site of Gregory Rasputin’s murder! Rusputin was a “spiritual mentor” and friend of the last Russian Tsar Nicolas II and his beloved wife Alexandra.

Here, you too will become engaged in the intricate mystery that surrounds the assassination as you hear first hand how the plot was hatched to kill Rasputin and the bizarre manner in which it was carried out! Indeed, the assassination of “the mad monk of Russia” is still as shocking and hair raising an event today, as it was when it shocked the world a hundred years ago!

We we will then visit  the world-famous State Hermitage museum! The museum possesses a tremendous collection from  Classical to Modern art! Although the Hermitage is enormous and houses priceless Rembrandts and Picassos among its treasure trove, we guarantee we will make sure, that you, our valued guests, see all of its highlights, including the Artistic Masterpieces and the gorgeous state rooms of the Russian royalty!

On the third and final day of our tour, our special interest will be the Imperial summer residences.  The two most famous and impressive among these are Peterhof and Catherine Palace. During this tour we promise you we will visit both.

At Peterhof, you will see why this fabulous architectural marvel has been compared with Versailles, as you walk along the banks of the Gulf of Finland in the spectacular Peterhof Fountain Park and then visit the magnificent Peterhof Summer Palace. Envisioned and built by the first Russian Emperor – the eccentric  “progressive,” Peter the Great, Peterhof is European in the “grand “ style; and yet, it is unmistakably “Russian!”

We will then take you to the breathtaking summer residence of Tsaritsa Catherine the Great - Catherine Palace. Here, you will be astounded by the wonders of the Amber room, bedecked with authentic Russian amber from floor to ceiling, while the opulent golden layering in every hall will quite astonish you.

We will finish your tour of St. Petersburg with a unique visit to a modern attraction – the St. Petersburg Metro! It may sound strange to include a subway train ride deep within the bowels of the city in this tour, but we promise you, you will have no regrets!  Conceived by the Soviet government as a Palace for the People, our Metro has become one of the main attractions of the city. The stations are spectacular - splendid and over the top ornate! Some of them resemble the state rooms of a royal palace! You will never see such ostentatious metro stations anywhere else in the world!  That is why we heartily recommend this extraordinary experience!

So, we invite you to join us on this -  our “top tour” of majestic St. Petersburg. It is our “top” tour for a reason - it will stay in your heart forever!

Energetic

Are you one of those travellers who will not be satisfied until you’re sure you’ve seen everything possible? If yes, then this “hectic” 3 day tour of St. Petersburg may just be perfect for you! This tour is designed to cover not just the most famous sites and attractions of the city, but also many more less famous but equally majestic places that other tours simply do not include. Indeed, on this tour, we guarantee that you will experience the maximum that St. Petersburg can reasonably offer you in 3 full days!

So how will this tour be conducted? To orient you with our rather large and sprawling city we determined from prior experience that it is best to start with a sightseeing city tour by comfortable air-conditioned motor coach, with your personal guide explaining to you the layout of the city’s diverse precincts, and teaching you interesting historical facts that will be of great use to you later on the tour. The motor coach also allows us to cover vast ground in the city quickly, visiting its most distinguished places of interest.

Among them are three of the most famous Russian Orthodox cathedrals in St. Petersburg: 1. the classically Russian, onion domed Cathedral of Our Savior on Spilled Blood - all covered with mosaic inside; 2. Peter and Paul's Cathedral within Peter and Paul’s Fortress – often referred to as the birthplace of St. Petersburg - a place steeped in Russian history and the resting place of the Romanovs; and 3. the fourth tallest domed cathedral in the world – the incomparable St. Isaac’s, also famous for its huge one-piece granite columns each weighing more than 100 tons!

After having spent such a busy first day in the heart of our bustling city, on the next day we will change your environment completely as we hide away in the country! We will wander through the Tsars’ magnificent summer residences, including Peter the Great’s “Great Russian Versailles,” and Catherine the Great’s uniquely opulent Catherine Palace.

At Peterhof, you will soon see why this eccentric yet fabulous architectural marvel has been compared so often with Versailles, as you walk along the banks of the Gulf of Finland in the spectacular Peterhof Fountain Park and visit the magnificent Peterhof Summer Palace. Envisioned and built by the first Russian Emperor – the eccentric  “progressive,” Peter the Great, Peterhof is European in the “grand “ style; and yet, it is unmistakably “Russian!”

We will then travel South to visit Pavlovsk - the romantic and elegant palace of Emperor Paul I and his wife Maria, and  after that, the breathtaking summer residence of Tsaritsa Catherine the Great - Catherine Palace. Here, you will be astounded by the wonders of the Amber room, bedecked with authentic Russian amber from floor to ceiling, while the opulent golden layering in every hall will quite astonish you!

We will then take you on a speedy hydrofoil boat ride, during which you will see not only the city centre, but also the newest parts of St. Petersburg’s modern residential areas. After that, to give you a taste of modern St. Petersburg and the life of its citizenry, we will take you on  a “magic” metro (subway) ride.  You will be amazed because the St. Petersburg metro is like no other subway in the world. It is like a museum with each station architecturally unique. Each one is spectacular, and over the top ornate in the Stalinist style! You will never see such ostentatious metro stations anywhere else!

On the Third Day, we  will visit several museums, including of course, one of the greatest and most prestigious museums in the world – “the treasure of St. Petersburg”- the State Hermitage!  We will spend plenty of time at the Hermitage pointing out all that is truly unique and precious in the collection. When you travel with K Joy, we will make sure that you see all of the highlights of the Hermitage, even though it is massive, intimidating, and certainly Russia's largest museum! If you love Leonardo, Cezanne, Van Gogh, Rembrandt or Picasso – just Let Us Known and we will make sure you see your favorite artist’s master works - we guarantee it!

Finally, we will take you to the most controversial museum In St. Petersburg - Yusupov Palace!

Initially built for Russia’s richest aristocratic dynasty - the Yusupovs, the palace is most notorious as the site of Gregory Rasputin’s murder!!! We will make sure that you, our valued guests, become totally immersed in the intricate mystery that surrounds the assassination of Rasputin - the “spiritual mentor” and friend of the last Tsar of Imperial Russia - Nicolas II, and his beloved wife Alexandra. You will hear first hand how the plot was hatched to kill Rasputin - by the last owner of the palace - Prince Felix Yusupov, and the bizarre manner in which it was carried out! Indeed, the assassination of “the mad monk of Russia” is still as shocking and hair raising an event today, as it was when it shocked the country a hundred years ago!  You will not be disappointed – that is our guarantee!

Please note “The Energetic” is intense, and some of you will be tired by the end of the tour. But, we know you'll be happy and satisfied – one and all! You will experience the maximum of St. Petersburg that you could possibly cover in 3 days; and you will be exposed to a lot of Russian  history, mystery, and folklore! We do caution that “The Maximum” is not for everyone, because it is intense and we cover a lot, but for those of you who are energetic, brave and curious, there really is no better tour in St. Petersburg that immerses you in Mother Russia so deeply in three full days, as this tour with K Joy!

If you are willing and able, please Contact us for more information. We will do the rest!

Capital tour

Discover a brilliant offer for cruise ship passengers arriving in St.Petersburg! 3 day shore excursion tour of St.Petersburg and Moscow!

Experience two Russian capitals with K JOY Travel! Join our fantastic 3 day «Capital» tour!

We have designed a tour to allow you to visit our two magnificent capitals: St Petersburg, the cultural capital in the north, and Moscow, Russia's major political and economic center to the south.

The tour is planned for three days and will include significant attractions of both cities, enjoyed at a reasonable pace.

DAY I

On this first day, you will be met by a personal guide who is an expert on St Petersburg.  Together you will tour the city by air-conditioned coach,  introducing you to the layout of this city's diverse precincts.

Peter and Paul's Cathedral within the Fortress, is one of the first major sights that you will see.  This is the birthplace of St Petersburg and also the resting place of the Romanovs.  We will tour the Tsars' magnificent summer residences: Peter the Great's Peterhof and Catherine the Great's opulent Catherine Palace.  We will also enjoy viewing the city center and some of St Petersburg's modern residential areas by a hydrofoil boat.

DAY II

On the second day, we will depart early and journey to the impressive capital of Moscow.  We will travel via a comfortable speed train and arrive in only 4 hours.  From here, we will have a car take us on a sightseeing tour while we provide you with interesting facts and stories from the history of this amazing city.

One of our stops will be to the Armoury, a treasure of a museum.  The Armoury houses a priceless collection of art: jewels, diplomatic gifts, Faberge Eggs, imperial carriages, thrones and crowns.  It holds a treasure trove of the Tsars and provides an incomparable journey into Russian history, art and culture.

From the Armoury, we will walk into the heart  and soul of the city, the Red Square.  Certainly the most famous site in Russia and where you will see the Kremlin, St Basil's Cathedral and other beautiful examples of  architecture. The Red Square has been a sacred and politically significant landmark for hundreds of years, and is certain to impress.

You will return to St Petersburg by the speed train "Sapsan" the same day and your driver will be waiting to return you to your cruise ship.

DAY III

Our third day begins with an early entry in to the  State Hermitage Museum, before general admission, allowing us to avoid the large crowds.  Although the Hermitage is so vast it would take weeks to tour, we will see the highlights of the galleries and take time to appreciate the breathtaking state rooms,  once the dominion of  Russian Royalty.

After the Hermitage, we will visit two cathedrals: St Isaac's Cathedral, which is the fourth tallest domed church in the world, and the Russian Orthodox Cathedral of Our Savior on Spilled Blood which is adorned with inlaid mosaics and decorated with multi-colored enamel onion domes.

Always optional, but always enjoyed, we often work in to the tour a trip to a local farmers' market and a visit to the Metro.  The market will introduce you to the daily life of St Petersburg citizenry, and the Metro will showcase the "Palace of the People", built by the Soviet Government. The Metro has become a main attraction of modern day Russia.  Each station is built with marble, and lighting is provided by beautiful chandeliers - creating unforgettable public spaces.
